Wavespec Limited is well known for its expertise in the design and construction of vessels for the carriage of bulk oil and oil products.

Wavespec has been involved in some of the most innovative and technically challenging tanker projects in the Far East, resulting in the delivery of vessels that have significantly enhanced environmental protection, safety and operability.

These vessels have operated in the harshest of marine environments and have consistently proven their effectiveness. We have been, and are, involved in all stages of project development, starting from the initial assessment of an owner's needs.

This includes the development of complete vessel specifications, complete FEED (front end engineering design) studies, review of shipyards' technical capabilities, review, appraisal and assessment of shipyards' technical and commercial submissions to owners, and technical and commercial discussions with shipyards on the basis of their submissions, resulting in the development of final Contract Shipbuilding Specifications and Shipbuilding Contracts.

Wavespec carries out all aspects of project management, detailed design review and plan approval and has the in-house capability to carry out full FE (finite element) analyses of ship structures.

To achieve this we have a highly qualified team of marine engineers, naval architects, electrical engineers, control and instrumentation engineers and cargo specialists based in our Maldon offices.

During construction, Wavespec provides a full site supervision team to carry out inspection and verification of vessel construction, witnessing of shop tests of equipment being built and tested ready for delivery to the vessel, supervision and witnessing of the commissioning of machinery and electrical systems and, on completion of build, co-ordination and monitoring of acceptance sea trials.

For each phase of the construction, specialist personnel are employed to ensure the vessel is built to meet the quality that the specification requires. Throughout vessel construction and testing, site teams are provided with complete support from our Maldon offices.

Wavespec is committed to safety and safety management and, as a result, provides detailed HSE and Safety Audit guidelines to all site staff. Site team members are encouraged to be involved with shipyards to further develop the yards' safety culture.

Our involvement in ship construction does not end with delivery of the vessel. Wavespec's team works with the Owner during the vessel's guarantee period, and its subsequent operating life, to ensure optimum safe operational efficiency.

We have also assisted shipyards in developing their capability to "transfer" shipbuilding and design capability from one shipyard to another, to develop the second yard's capabilities.
