Wavespec is involved in a number of projects that are building the most advanced ships for transportation of LNG in many parts of the world. Our participation in these projects starts at different stages, dependent on the clients' wishes; from conceptual studies through to plan approval. In all cases we are supplying most or all of the supervision personnel in the shipyyard during construction, who ensure that the ships are built to the highest quality and in accordance with the specification and regulations.
Wavespec specialises in acting as project managers for ship owners and charterers during the ordering, specifying and building of oil tankers. We ensure that the shipyard designs and constructs the ships to the owner's requirements, through application of the skills and experience of our staff.
The recently increased attention to the reliablity of dynamic positioning systems on offshore vessels, including construction support and drilling rigs, has resulted in a project to review integrity of the failure modes and effects analysis documentation on a series of vessels operating in close proximity to oil production platforms. Performance of this review requires close contact with the clients' staff, a great deal of attention to detail, and good communication skills to ensure that all parties understand the operation of each vessel and its equipment.
A recent request from legal counsel involved an assessment of the design concept for an offshore floating production vessel, to assess the reasons for a failure to convert a contract option into a firm order. Wavespec's in depth experience of both the offshore vessel and shipyards was necessary in arriving at an expert view of the matter.
Wavespec has carried out a large number of ship/shore compatibility studies for both LNG terminal operators and LNG ship owners. These requiere a detailed assessment of data, which can be difficult to obtain, and preparation of a comprehensive report to either confirm compatibility or highlight potential problem areas.
